Buffalo Hunting Karamoja - Uganda

"Hunt the Pearl of Africa"

Karamoja stretches across an isolated corner of Africa and is named after the “Karamojong” people who have lived here for centuries.

This arid expanse of savannah and bush forms the northeast edge of Uganda where it borders Kenya and South Sudan. Much of Karamoja is more than 1,000 metres above sea level, and four main mountains overlook the region’s savannah, highlands and river valleys. It is a breathtaking and exciting landscape which gives you all the chance for an exhilarating hunting experience.

Our hunting operation is a part of Uganda Wildlife Safaris Ltd., the biggest and best hunting operator in Uganda. Their Northern Karamoja concessions stretch from the border of the famed Kidepo Valley National Park in southern and eastern direction. Buffalo is one of the main species of game and the game population is increasing every year.

We are based out of our new Kakwanga Camp situated on a ridgeline south of Kidepo Valley National Park overlooking breathtaking plains. Depending on your experience and your expectations we might be exploring new hunting grounds in slightly more remote parts of our hunting concession on our search for an old buffalo bull. In these new areas we will set up small fly (spike) camps.

Best hunting season: November to April (every year)

Beside buffalo there are many other fascinating game species such as Lesser Kudu, Leopard, Jacksons Hartebeest, Chanlers Mountain Reedbuck, East Bohor Reedbuck, Defassa Waterbuck, Gunthers Dik-Dik, Warthog, Oribi and many more huntable in Karamoja.

In addition to these hunts in Karamoja we have also access to the other concessions of Uganda Wildlife Safaris Ltd. to hunt East African Sitatunga, Uganda Kob  Maasai Bushbuck, Nile Bushbuck  and many other species.
